Yellow Fever Vaccination & Travel Card in Lagos
Yellow fever vaccination and travel card in Lagos
Yellow fever vaccination is a requirement for international travel from Nigeria. Most countries will not grant entry to travellers from Nigeria without a valid International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (the 'yellow card'). If you are planning to travel abroad, you need this vaccine and the accompanying certificate.
ExCare Health is an approved yellow fever vaccination centre. We administer the vaccine and issue the official yellow card at our locations across Lagos.
What is the yellow fever vaccine?
Yellow fever is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes. It is endemic in parts of West Africa and South America. The vaccine is a single injection that provides lifelong protection. The World Health Organisation confirms that a single dose of yellow fever vaccine is sufficient for life, and booster doses are no longer required.
After vaccination, it takes approximately 10 days for your immunity to develop. Plan your vaccination at least two weeks before your travel date to ensure you are fully protected and that your certificate is valid on departure.
How to get your yellow card at ExCare
Visit any ExCare Health branch with the following: a valid means of identification (national ID card, international passport, or driver's licence) and your travel itinerary or passport showing your departure date (recommended, not required).
Our clinical staff will administer the vaccine and complete your International Certificate of Vaccination. The certificate includes a unique identification number, the vaccine batch number, and the date of vaccination. It is valid from 10 days after vaccination and lasts for life.
The entire process, from registration to receiving your certificate, typically takes 20 to 30 minutes.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get the vaccine on the same day I walk in?
Yes. No appointment is necessary. Walk-ins are accepted during normal operating hours at all branches.
Do I need a yellow fever vaccine if I am travelling within Nigeria?
The yellow card is primarily required for international travel. However, some Nigerian states may request proof of vaccination during outbreaks. If you live in or are travelling to an endemic area, vaccination is strongly recommended regardless.
